The opportunity to make this exhibition came very short-term and provides a spontaneous way to show experimental works which are outside of Steiner’s usual concepts and / or haven’t been shown in Aalborg yet. Normally, Malte Steiner works with thematic cycles like 'The Big Crash - art for the pending burst of the real estate bubble -' and 'Absolute Power', with more time spent in preparation. This exhibition features works from 2017 - 2026 and shows paintings, sound art, VR, drawings and electronic installations. Among them are drawings from Steiner’s residency in Ii in Finland which he shared with the artist Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen in 2018, a VR ride through a real estate nightmare (a piece from The Big Crash which couldn’t be shown at the XM3 exhibition in 2021 due to Covid concerns) and works from Steiner’s latest project ‘Anticomic’, a deconstruction of the graphical world of Comics. Malte Steiner is a German artist and musician living in Aalborg. Since the 80s he has been creating visual arts and electronic music, developing his own vision of the interdisciplinary Gesamtkunstwerk. He consistently pushes the envelope by working with technologies which are not so common in arts. His works are shown in exhibitions around the world and he regularly performs concerts of his diverse electronic music projects.
